Regardless of what you use — most studies agree is that the most beneficial thing for the environment — is for shoppers to bring their own reusable bags to the grocery store.

A reusable bag is better for the environment regardless of what it is made from, as long as it is used at least four times, according to a 2004 study by the French retailer Carrefour.

The problem is the human factor, bags don’t throw themselves away. We need to shift focus and see the problem for what it is “people”. If people took care of their rubbish then there would not be a problem, here in Victoria Australia we have to conserve the amount of water we use. Same should apply to plastic bags use less where you can, get over being lazy and remember to take a reusable bag with you when you go shopping. Too easy you have to wonder why there is a problem, other than “attitude”.
